The Arts and Communications Academy (ACA) at Governor Thomas Johnson High School offers Frederick County high school students in grades 10 to 12, with an interest in the arts, the opportunity to take exceptional classes in the field of arts and communications. ACA offers college level courses with an intense curriculum to challenge and engage students. The academic program will allow for student refinement of individual artistic styles/techniques and portfolio development. ACA students will be given opportunities to enhance and enrich knowledge via field trips, concerts, plays, museums, workshops, and interaction with professional artists and mentors. Students enrolled in the academy will be assisted in portfolio development along with preparation for the finest colleges and careers in the fields of Arts and Communications. ACA offers courses of study in music, theatre, and visual arts/communications.

To graduate high school, students must earn one high school credit in the Fine Arts.
